Who's Safeguarding Our Children During Co-VID 19?
About this Event: Held on June 26, 2020
Speakers talked about how children from countries around the world have been at a greater risk of neglect, harm and abuse during CO-VID 19 due to it’s isolating nature.
Not only has isolation been the biggest factor but also poverty and economic challenges. When parents, relatives or guardians lose one or more jobs, then children may be effected by the stress and anger in the household. Children may take it upon themselves to find jobs that may pay little to nothing. Or parents, guardians or relatives may sell their children to traffickers and/or arrange child marriages to be able to pay their housing, medical, and food bills. Children are at the most risk as they don’t have a huge voice in the community causing isolation and silence. -Synopsis Rewritten to Reflect After the Event Pretense
