B Corp and/or Fair Trade Holiday Gift Guide // Nov. 2024 //

I know it’s not Thanksgiving yet but I wanted to give thanks for this month and the days/months to come.

I want to give thanks for everything that is apart of my home! I’m thankful for electricity, water, and a bed to sleep on. Plus, the luxury of a phone and television. Not everyone has the comforts of a mattress to sleep on or a kitchen counter to cook/cut food on.

I would love to highlight some companies that are apart of our home or that we could purchase for our home, as the holidays are upon us. These companies are either b corp: “a company that has voluntarily met the highest standards for social and environmental performance” (Cultivatingcapital.com) or fair trade, “a system of trading with a developing country in which a good price is paid for their exports, and the people who produce the goods have good working conditions and are paid a fair wage” (Cambridgedictionary.com).

Kitchen:

Made Trade: has gorgeous dish sets, oil cruets, hand towels and containers. Each product is made with at least two of their values: “Fair Trade, Handcrafted, Made in the USA, Recycled / Upcycled, Sustainable Materials, Vegan, or from a BIPOC-Owned or Women-Owned business.”

Seventh Generation sells all purpose cleaner, multi-surface wipes, trash bags and napkins at Amazon, Target, Grove, Walmart, Whole Foods and Thrive Market. “It is the first company to sell unbleached, 100% recycled products” (Seventh Generation).

Dr. Bronners is Silver, USDA Organic, Fair for Life OTCO, Not Animal Tested, Certified Vegan, and Non-GMO. The don’t believe in Green Washing. They are famous for selling their soap! You can even add essential oil to their pure castile soap or buy it with a scent. I have tried their soap and virgin coconut oil which I love!

Staach is a company manufacturing their products in the USA. Looking for stools, chairs or tables? Staach has our back.

Plank Hardware has beautiful switches, lighting, door hardware, cabinet hardware and more. Their black aluminum is their low carbon choice. So look at that first!

Laundry Room:

-Made Trade: has beautiful handwoven, laundry baskets that are fair trade and sustainable. Some of the baskets are made with “jute and millet” (Made Trade). The company also is women-owned and climate neutral.

Ethique creates clean, smooth, stain remover, laundry soap bars. I have used their shampoo and conditioner bars which I loved so much! The smell was fantastic and packaging was cardboard instead of plastic! Did you know that “20% goes to charities” to protect the environment? “Made with 100% biodegradable ingredients, pure essential oils & white Kaolin clay removes oils & dirt” (Amazon).

Grove sells laundry detergent packs, dryer sheets, fabric softener, laundry bags and more, made by Seventh Generation, Mrs. Meyers and more. The company has a high ethical standard including the wellness and safety of the people. There is also opportunity to give to tree replanting, saving the rainforest and protecting drinking water on their website..

Bathroom:

-Soapbox is made in the USA! The company gives away a bar of soap with each one that is purchased. Not only do they create products but also provide “hygiene education, hygiene research and job opportunities.” Find them on Amazon and in “Target, Walgreens, Rite Aid” (B Corporation).

- Kuishi makes stainless steel soap holders and soap in glass bottles. They believe in sustainability, therefore creating carbon-neutral dispensing solutions. Click the link to find products on Amazon!

-Dock and Bay Ltd. recycles materials into towels! One of their products, quick dry towels are 100% recycled and very absorbent. Great for traveling!

- Native Trails Inc. sells copper and concrete sinks, vanities, bath tubs and drains plus kitchen sinks. The company believes and creates sustainable and fair trade products..

- Fire Clay is the only “vertically integrated, direct-to-customer tile manufacturer” (B Corporation). Not only is the company B corp but also Made in America and Zero Waste. Finally, they believe in “honesty and kindness….” plus to “tread lightly on our Earth” and “measure twice, cut once.”

Bumboo has bamboo toilet paper. Very sustainable as bamboo grows super fast. Plus, it’s pesticide free!

Bedroom:

Ecosa provides wonderful bamboo linens and ergonomic mattresses. Highlighting the cooling pillow: it has cool-to-touch fabric and gel layer, an adjustable height, contoured ergonomic designs and made from sustainable materials.” (Ecosa).

Cotswold Bed holds the Okeo-Tex Certification which means “free of chemical toxins.” Need a headboard or a mattress? The company specializes in both. Plus, they have stools, chairs, footstools and sofas. Check them out today! (Cotswold Bed).
