Event Description:
“Stereotypically, child sexual abuse implies the image of a male perpetrator sexually abusing a female child. However, due recent high profile cases across the globe we have seen women being convicted.
Irrespective of the perpetrator’s gender, sexual abuse is an underreported crime,
The recent indictment of Jeffery Epstein for sex trafficking highlights the importance of understanding sex offenses perpetrated by women.Epstein allegedly did not act alone. In a variety of court filings, some of his female associates been questioned and arrested.
We will be discussing the role women play in abuse?
How can we educate women about cultural and ritual out of date practices ?
What are the Characteristics of Female abusers?”
Ian McNicholl:
-More females are victims, look at sense of response and… scope of need. [More females ask for help, so it’s harder for males to recognized as victims]
-Domestic Violence: Clare’s Law. “Clare's Law is the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme. It's named after Clare Wood, who was murdered in 2009 by her ex-boyfriend who had a history of violence against women. The scheme allows you to ask us about the information we hold on a person in relation to domestic abuse offences and convictions.” (camps.police.uk)
-Female ask about parter [abuse] or [for] other females. Men aren’t taking advantage of it or looking after women.
-Violence is violence….
-As a team, everyone achieves more.
-Again, clarify other abuse, didn’t recognize [abuse against] male. Woman assault me and then 5 minutes wanted to have sex.
-Shival Study: 150 men.
-[Re-victimization] Asked by police: you couldn’t get an erection?
Michelle Robinson:
-Written abstract of my life, keep on topic:
42 years old, live in UK,
Survivor of sexual abuse, ages of 3 to 29
Complex mental health issues, Dissociative Disorder
Incest, primary abuser-primary care giver (woman)
Sexual abuse her with objects
[primary care giver] helped her with abuse of men, pinning me down so men could rape me
Primary care giver slapped and spit on her and …sexually simulate me, [say] she’s ready for you
Starved me… only allowed fluid foods..
Not being able to eat solid foods during the time. Eat solid food, trigger
Beat me minute late or minute early to the [dinner] table
12 years old- do make up and sell her to highest bidder,
[primary health giver]-primary rapist, primary pimps
Abuse me to, wanted to
Sexually abuse, no fear if didn’t
Didn’t escape of 18, [because of abuse, harder to think to leave]
As adult infuriated, [try to prosecute abuser] 3 no further cases as woman can not be charged with rape, lack of penis
Torture chamber
Feel out of control, can’t label experiences,
Women charged with rape, equal responsibility: where are the protest????
Rape crisis: female offenders… people come out to speak about it
-How many times ignore issue
-Women danger to society, [should be charged with] full force of the law
-BBC: 2015 to 2019: reported children, wales and UK: 2, 297, 84% up…lack of understanding women perpetrators
Dr. Ifunanya Igweze-Nkwocha
-Women play in abuse, women can be penetrators in abuse
-We are abusing the victim
-A lot of women are abused, their own gender, and male
-Environment of 12 year old [boy] in Nigeria, young women abuse them (moms friends, relatives)…
-Men in house abuse woman (teen girl comes to live in house) Mom doesn’t want male to appear…. not report abuse. Give more power to abuse. Woman… enabler.
-Female come out on twitter been abused (Ask questions what were you doing there? What were you wearing?
-[Women downplay the rape of a male] Man can’t be raped. Know that man enjoyed it.
call it double standard
-Not just physical abuse, woman engage in mental abuse, *call out penetrators
Jerome Elam
-WA research: female offenders
-Right of passage. 35 teacher molest 12 year old boy. Right of manhood.
-Molested by grandmother: age of 5 to 12. Try to tell teacher: she molested me, wall of silence come down. Try to tell someone, immediately dismissed and have it recognized
-14x suicide the norm, 38x more incarcerated bc of trauma
-Not well documented, global scale, women become offenders
-Push for legislation in the US. Convictions low. Many women trafficked both boys and girls. -Selling kids or even adults. Mention in males being trafficked, 40% of clients molest young boys are women.
-For me, it was a big struggle to recover from the abuse
-Someone, perceived trust, women nurturing, when some violent and abuse- cuts into self-esteem. Don’t see more men speak out: stigma of abuse of man, don’t take you serious
Mandy Sanghera:
-In UK, women befriend, procure and find other victims. Very high profile cases. Women play many roles. Tell us of the roles women play in abuse.
-Women recruiters: entice young boys or girls where they are abused like in Epstein Case
-Bottom (definition): Trauma bond with trafficker, act as recruiters to bring boys and girls to be trafficked.
-Lobbying government, women not charged with rape
-Law is out of date
Michelle Robinson
-Couldn’t agree to you more about law is out to date
-2016: she contact minister crime and justice/no intention to update law/ said sex act updated/pitiful sentence: assault by penetration
-Hierarchy by sexual crimes. assault by penetration: not as serious as rape
-100,000 signatures: not get enough signatures
-Raise awareness: update websites, although men only rape that sexual assault happens with women
-No way reaching equality
Mandy Sanghera:

Mandy Sanghera

Igweze: How to educate local community? communities in Africa?
Dr. Ifunanya Igweze-Nkwocha
-Bring people out of abuse. Tell victim, educate victim, thing that happen to you is not normal.
-We go into school base advocacy. Organization focus on girls. During outreach, talk to boys
-Bring girls together: Gender Abuse violence, can understand that, touch boobs and vagina, crossing their boundaries, not to say to them. Identify them and their abusers. Abuse happens. -I am being abused, go out to [tell] parents, counselors…
-My organization, what we do in Nigeria, school based advocacy, house to house advocacy

-What their impact is…and what help they actually need. These services can cost money… such long waiting list. Yes, I’m suffering symptoms and then to be told waiting list. It’s absolutely heart breaking. Do what we can do for ourselves. Self care, grounding techniques, out of survival mode into living.
-Inquiry needs to look at perpetrators. Do what they do. To stop it…to not go and abuse. If you are a victim, perpetrator, want them keyed up. Not help, why perpetrate in the first place?
